Mmmm... Pizza

Well, I made it to Rainbow. The pizza crusts were Kinnikinnick. They come 4 to a pack - not 7 or 2. What the heck was I thinking?? Anyway, Rainbow only had 2 packs left, so I grabbed them.

When we got home we decided to try them. It has been a long time since we have had pizza, folks. I couldn't wait any longer. In fact, I defrosted one of Alex's spaghetti sauces and used cheddar cheese, I was so impatient.

Wow! That is what I have to say about these crusts. Y'all, it was real pizza. Mmmm...

I love any company that so clearly labels their products. As someone who glutened herself the day before because I took a chance on a not so clearly labeled product, I can't say enough how much I appreciate clear, concise labeling.

Sorry about the bad pictures. They were all I could get before the boys devoured the pizza.

Last night, Alex and I decided to run to Cater's (our local over priced gourmet/odd foods store) and sure enough, they have them. Apparently, they have had them for a while now. I don't know how I missed them, but honestly, I am not that surprised that I missed them. :p

I also managed to find a store local to my mom that carries Kinnikinnick products, so the next time that she is there, she is going to check to see if the personal pizza crusts. If not, Cater's said they can order extras for me so that Alex can have pizza in Ohio.

Of course, those of you who know how cheap I am are wondering why I don't just make pizza crusts and freeze them myself. Well, a couple of reasons - 1) gluten free pizza crust is hard to make. Anyone who tells you it isn't is either lying or lucky. 2) the flours needed for gf baking are freaking expensive. Horribly expensive. I bought a $9 bag of brown rice flour to try a gf pizza crust a friend  - who is a baker - gave me. The crust turned out wellish, but it took almost the whole bag of flour, eggs, oil, yeast, etc. to get a 9" crust. We are talking a $12 - 9" pizza crust. Suddenly, the $7.50 I paid in Jackson or even the $9.85 I would pay locally doesn't seem so expensive 3) these crusts are goooood. Like pizza shop good.

Want more reviews of the crust? Jay from Kinnikinnick stopped by and posted a comment on my last post with some reviews.

Sheesh-you need a grain mill. All the brown rice flour you want for less than a buck a pound.
